“If you ever see me running, stop, because someone is chasing me”
How many of you feel that way about merely the thought of “running”?
I have been a runner for years now. I love it, bad knees and all. I Especially love race days. The cool morning air, the energy of the runners and encouragement of the spectators…not to mention the swag bags.
Am I fast? Heck to the no.
Have I finished DEAD LAST in a race before? YES
Did that stop me from continuing to run? Nope
Fall & Spring are prime time running seasons. The FASTer Way just announced their second annual Virtual FASTer Way 5k. I have a 4 week training guide prepared for you guys to get a jumpstart on training.
With the holidays coming up what better time to hit the pavement than now?
When I started running I really had no clue what I was doing, I thought I had to run as hard and as fast as I could until I couldn’t go anymore. It wasn’t the most pleasant experience.
I found the Jeff Galloway method (walk/jog) and it changed my approach to running. I realized I could alternate between walking and jogging and enjoy the experience so much more. Slow and steady wins the race right?
According to Jeff Galloway,
“Walk breaks will significantly speed up recovery because there is less damage to repair. The early walk breaks erase fatigue, and the later walk breaks will reduce or eliminate overuse muscle breakdown.”
Below is my 4 week, 5k Training calendar based off of the Jeff Galloway methods.
