Are the jeans still snug? Yes. Does my muffin top still hang over? slightly. But these jeans haven’t been buttoned in OVER a year, and the muffin top is mini muffin status. This is what progress looks like.
Let’s be real, I didn’t have a banging body before I got pregnant. Straight up, I don’t have the drive or dedication to be in the gym 7 days a week. I liked my cardio which is why my booty is pancake-ish. Running, doing classes offered at the local gyms and dancing around my house — that’s my jam. (I do weights occasionally) But even though I’m not about the swole life, I AM all about living as healthy of a lifestyle as possible.
Do I make the healthiest choices all the time? H-No, but I try and I stay really active. I’ve always had to be conscious of what I ate and stay active because I’m just a naturally curvy girl, don’t get me wrong I LOVE it, but if I don’t watch it I will BLOW UP. Of course eating like my body is a dumpster and never gaining a pound would be so much easier, but that was not the hand I was dealt (which honestly is a blessing) and that’s ok, you adjust to what works for you.
Fast forward. I had a baby! The most beautiful baby girl you ever did see. I gained 34 pounds during my pregnancy, not too shabby. I credit that to being sick for about 5 months plus having bad food aversions. Don’t worry, I balled so hard that last month, I swear I hate a pan of Pizza Hutt’s Toscanini pasta BY MYSELF, at least 2-3 times a week.
So boom, baby is born and within the first 3 weeks I lost 25 pounds. I was nursing/pumping which burns like a zillion calories, I barely had time to eat… I started doing the math and I was like “yeaahh boooiii –by two months postpartum all this weight is going to be GONE” — Math was never my best subject…
Month after month went by the scale was NOT budging, the clothes were NOT fitting and the waist line was NOT shrinking. I was only 10lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight, but it wasn’t a toned 10lbs away, it was saggy and jiggly.
I knew it would take some time after I had the baby to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but nothing was happening. I was stagnant and what I didn’t want to happen was for those numbers on the scale to start slowly rising instead of falling. Now let me be VERY CLEAR – this is not a “society pressures moms to snap back after having babies” type of post. – What “society” thinks, never has and never will dictate how I view my body. This is a “I know what my body is capable of, I don’t feel my best, I want to make a change”.
Around the middle of month 3 I watched this documentary on Netflix called “The Magic Pill”, after I watched it I was like holy moly – and immediately threw out all of our processed foods. Realistically I knew Keto, no carb, Paleo, Atkins, etc. wouldn’t be for me…I can’t be that strict all the time. I didn’t want a patch, pill or any other band-aid. I wanted a sustainable program that focused on nutrition. I couldn’t get to the gym like I used to, I couldn’t run 3 miles a day, I had a baby that I wanted to focus on, so I had to switch my focus from “eating what I want and running it off” to a nutrition based approach.
I started meal prepping again and eating all the right foods. I was healing from my C-section and was able to exercise more, but still…nothing was happening.
I had seen a local girl I knew posting about this program she was a certified coach in, “The Fasterway to Fat loss” and honestly, the name threw me. I’ve lost weight before and there is nothing “Fast” about it. So I didn’t pay it much mind. The market is so SATURATED with “get fit quick” multi-level marketing programs that I had turned my mind off to anything I saw advertised on Facebook or Instagram by people I knew….gosh isn’t that awful? I KNEW what it took to lose weight and I KNEW that 99% of those programs were NOT going to fix the real issue. I didn’t want to pay for something every.single.fargin.month that was a temporary fix and not getting to the root of the issue and fixing it.
I was out to eat with my sister Hannah and she pulled out her phone and started putting in her food to My Fitness Pal. Now, I’ve shared this story before and Hannah says “you make me sound like no fun”, sheesh…sisters, am I right? Let me preface this by saying, Hannah is a ton of fun but she is no nonsense. Of all my sisters we are the MOST alike, so there ya go, FUN. When I say no nonsense, I mean, she isn’t buying into just anything. She’s the mom of three very active girls, she doesn’t have time to invest in a program that doesn’t work.
She told me she was doing Krystal’s Faster Way To Fat Loss program and was loving it. That conversation, is the one that caught my ear. I started researching the program and watching the videos Krystal posted and realized home girl is not trying to sell any product, she is trying to educate her clients on how to eat efficiently so they could do it on their own. I was eating the right things, but I wasn’t eating them as efficiently as I could be. This was the program I needed. I signed up for her next round at the very last minute, the night before it started.
Four weeks in and I am seeing results on the scale, in my measurements and in the way my clothes fit.
This program is 100% nutrition driven. The great thing is Krystal has educated us on how/what/when to eat certain foods that I literally do not have to sign up for another round ever again….but I am. I focused on the nutrition aspect this first go around, not so much the workouts (and still saw results). I am going to incorporate more workouts into my next round and I literally cannot wait to see those results.
Krystal didn’t spend $500 on a starter kit then claim to be an expert while messaging people she hadn’t spoken to in 10 years and harass them about buying products…and I didn’t write this post to try to sell you on this program. I wrote this because maybe you are like me, not necessarily have had a baby, but maybe you moved to college and gained the freshman 15, maybe you have been so busy with work, family, school you haven’t had time to focus on your health, maybe you have just been hitting $1 margarita & taco night too much or maybe you are skinny, but not healthy (yes that is a thing) and you just want to feel better. You want to make a change and don’t quite know where to start.
Trying to lose weight can be frustrating, discouraging and all of the above. Believe me I know. It’s OK! Don’t get discouraged this season is temporary, every single day is a new opportunity to move towards a healthier you.
The above is just the tip of the iceberg. I did a Faster Way to Fat Loss Q&A on my Instagram stories where I answered questions from people just like you. (It’s so much and NO WAY, I’m typing it all out). If you want a little more in depth info find me on Instagram quincyofhouseburgess. The Q&A is located in my fitness highlights, it’s the one that looks like Beyonce .
If you are like “Say no more, where do I sign up?” Use the link below or click here. When you are signing up it will ask you if you have a coach, click yes and type Krystal Jones, she was my coach and she is the Bees Knees. The next round starts September 3rd. If you can’t sign up this round, no worries, she has new rounds that start every few weeks so you can take your time and do your own research to see if this is the right fit for you.
