Now that’s a catchy post title isn’t it?! Haha! I gained a looooot of weight while pregnant with AG (not complaining, just sharing the facts!) and at some point during my pregnancy I made a decision to try to get back to my pre-baby weight before she turned one. I know some women could care less about getting back to a number on the scale and other women have bigger goals for themselves and a shorter timeframe to accomplish them. And to that I say… you do you sistah! I think that’s fantastic. In the months following AG’s birth I lost a lot of the weight I had gained. Nursing worked wonders for me! But then around month 4 I got really sick, lost my milk and we had to start AG on formula. That’s a story for another day but it meant that I was no longer shedding pounds like I had been. It was discouraging and I knew if I wanted to meet my goal (getting back to pre-baby weight by AG’s first birthday) then I needed an action plan.
I’m thrilled to share that FWTFL worked well for me. It was the right move and i’m so glad I said yes!
HERE’S WHY I’M GLAD I DID IT:
- I learned so much about nutrition. Terms like “macros”, “carb cycling” and “intermittent fasting” no longer sound so scary and intimidating!
- I lost weight! I actually lost weight! It really worked haha! I’m SO close to my pre-baby weight and I wasn’t even focusing on the workouts!
- It’s such an easy lifestyle change. Because I wasn’t cutting anything out of my diet completely, it was an easy shift and felt very doable! I had just come off of Paleo when I started FWTFL and couldn’t believe how much easier FWTFL was than Whole 30 or Paleo.
- It got me in the habit of using My Fitness Pal and tracking what I’m eating throughout the day. Such a good habit to be in!
- I learned that many of the foods I thought were good for me, were not. And many of the foods I ate to lose weight were sadly NOT helping me lose weight!
